Man in his 20s dies after stabbing in Limerick pub

The man received serious stab wounds during an altercation at the pub on Sexton Street North in the city just before midnight.

A 24-YEAR-OLD man has died in Limerick after being stabbed at a pub in the city.

The altercation happened at Fitzgerald’s pub on Sexton Street North just before midnight last night.

The man was taken to University Hospital Limerick having suffered a number of serious stab wounds but was pronounced dead a short time later.

A post mortem will take place later today, and the local coroner has also been informed.

The scene at the pub has been preserved pending a Garda forensic investigation.

No arrests have yet been made.

Gardaí have appealed for any witnesses who may have been in the area at the time of the incident, or who may have information regarding what happened, to contact them at Mayorstone Garda Station on 061 456980, on the Garda Confidential Telephone Line at 1800 666111, or at any Garda Station.
