Limerick man hospitalised with gunshot wounds to the stomach

A 28-year-old man is being questioned about the incident.

GARDAÍ ARE SEARCHING for two “hooded suspects” following a shooting in Limerick last night.

A 26-year-old man is currently in hospital being treated for gunshot wounds to the stomach.

The victim was shot at about 9.30pm at Byrne Avenue in Prospect. He was taken to University Hospital Limerick where his injuries have been described as not life-threatening.

Investigating gardaí arrested a 28-year-old and are questioning him at Roxboro station.

The suspects fled in the direction of Lenihan Avenue. An appeal for witnesses has been issued and anyone with information is asked to contact 061 214 4340 or the Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.
