Poll: Should full-time staff be paid a "living wage"?

20% of people earn less than needed to live, UNITE says. But should that change?

TRADE UNION UNITE said yesterday that one in five people earns less than they need to sustain a minimum standard of living.

That means that they earn less than €11.45 an hour, or €446 a week.

Workers in hospitality, admin supports and retail, as well as construction, are particularly hard hit.

But, should something be done about it or is the minimum wage of €8.65 an hour enough?

A scheme to pay a living wage has been in place in London on a voluntary basis for the last seven years.

We’re asking: Should full-time staff be paid a “living wage”?

Poll Results:

Yes (5872)
No (856)
In urban areas only (504)
I don't know (460)
