Poll: Should cars be banned from the quays in Dublin?

‘Are we being too generous to the car driver?,’ councillors ask.

A DISAGREEMENT HAS emerged among members of Dublin City Council over proposals to ban cars from Eden Quay.

The council had previously said it would prohibit cars from O’Connell Street to Marlborough Street, allowing only public transport, taxis and cyclists. However, those plans are likely to be revised.

Green Party councillors have warned that “we’re being too generous to the car driver” and “discriminating against those who use public transport”.

Others have argued that businesses across the city would suffer if a message was sent out that cars were not allowed.

What do you think? Should cars be banned from the quays in Dublin?
