1. FRANCES Fitzgerald has taken over from Alan Shatter as Minister for Justice and Equality. (The Taoiseach himself is taking on Defence, while Charlie Flanagan takes over Fitzgerald’s previous portfolio of Children and Youth Affairs).

2. PRISON officers are feeling targeted by “malicious” complaints by inmates. The Prison Officers Association wants an independent ombudsman appointed to oversee complaints because of this.
