Upside-down world of Macnas to take over Dublin this evening

Spectators will get closer than ever to the spooktacular street performance in special twilight parade.

A BIRTH, A wedding and a funeral – all of life, but not as we know it, is in a showstopper event coming to Dublin city centre this evening.

The upside-down world that is a Macnas spectacular will take over a portion of the north inner city as the closing event in the city’s Halloween centrepiece, the Bram Stoker Festival.

Spectators are being advised to find a spot early on this Dublin route:

A separate extravaganza, Savage Grace, wowed crowds in Galway last night – and organisers are expecting an even bigger turnout for tonight’s production in Dublin, entitled Sleep No More.

As a result, spectators are being advised that the parade will pass all parts of the route so that no matter where you stand, you should enjoy the full effect. It begins in Moore Street, winds through Henry and Mary Streets before the fun really starts at Wolfe Tone Street and beyond. It heads up Parnell Street, onto Little Britain Street and finishes up at Halston Street.

Here’s a taste of what to expect from the atmosphere and performers – and spectators are encourage to don their own costumes and celebrate the Samhain:
