It appears that cannabis is ruling the headlines.

So, from the sounds of things, next to f*ck all of the dangerous drugs such as heroin, crack etc etc is being nabbed. Is this the case? Rarely hear about coke or pills even.

Are you just publicizing the cannabis because more people seem to want to have it and legalize it?

Or because the amounts are more headline catching?
All this weed and very few problems arising from it.
Never hear a headline “weed fueled addict does whatever to another…”.
    No. Cause it doesn’t happen.

    • The reason why they are catching so much weed of this quantity is because it stinks. The smell of those plants would send sniffer dogs downwind, crazy 30 miles away. Na but seriously drug dealers are rats. One gets caught and the sing from high heaven on the rest of them.

      Ye that’s true.
I heard, from a reliable source, a good proportion of people they are catching are people in financial trouble and are resorting to growing in a rented house or a portable cabin or container in a field to sort out their problem.
And he also said the majority of catches are the result of tips.

  • Hugh,

I’m forever reading about raids on the journal. The thing that strikes me is the overwhelming amount of people that post after every article in favour of legalisation. Surely as a prominent writer on this website you also notice this? Ok so perhaps its a bit biased as i’d imagine that people with a bit if an interest in the stuff would be the first to read the article and comment but thats not to say they don’t make very valid points as they do. Legalise, tax it and regulate. We’ve all heard the arguments. They seem a dead cert winner. With alot of people seeming to back the ideas as I remember a poll a while back on this site that, if memory serves correct, had a vast majority of people on the legalise side. This country is in serious crisis. Talks of budgets, cuts, upped taxes and hell one can’t even own a house anymore without having to pay a household charge. Someone in the media please bring this to the attention of the government. Watching prime time the other night. Two gardai trying to stop the disgusting prostitution rings in the country. A mere 2 gardai! It’s a joke! yet raids every second day on a plant that it seems most of the population want legalised! How can anyone justify this. It is an absolute disgrace and would make you lose faith in the government and senior gardai. The government needs to do what it was elected for, be the voice of the people, cop the f**k on. Make radical changes for the good of this country. Set an example. They don’t have to be sheep. Listen to the people that elected them. Leave a legacy to be proud of. Go to sleep knowing they are doing everything to make this country a better place for us and our kids! Ha rant over!

  • Just imagine the money this country would rake in if it was taxed and taken out of criminal hands. But sadly instead they are going to burn good money instead stopping the most harmless drug on the planet instead.

  • Oh no, they’re growing plants! Quick, get the Gards down there to raid the place and arrest the perpetrator, we all know there aren’t enough people in prison!
