Man charged over cash-in-transit robbery at Dublin shopping centre

One person is due in court later today in connection with raid in Rathfarnham.

A 43-YEAR-OLD man has been charged in connection with the robbery of a cash-in-transit van in Dublin on Thursday.

The robbery occurred in the car park of the Rathfarnham Shopping Centre on Butterfield Avenue at around 12.45pm. A single armed raider escaped from the scene with an undisclosed sum of cash stolen from a G4S security van.

A car believed to have been driven by a second man and used to help the raider flee the scene was later found on fire in Templeogue.

Two men and a women were arrested in the Ballyfermot area by gardaí investigating the incident. One of these, a man aged 43, has been charged in connection with the incident and is to appear in court this evening.

The other two people have been released without charge and a file is being prepared for the DPP.
