Man charged over collision that killed moped rider

A man in his 30s died in the collision on Friday.

A MAN IS set to appear in court in connection with a fatal road collision that happened in Dublin on Friday.

Shortly after 7.30pm that evening, a man in his 30s was seriously injured when his moped collided with a car at the junction of Sherrard Street and the North Circular Road.

He was treated at the scene by emergency service personnel and taken by ambulance to the Mater Hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

A man in his 20s was arrested on Friday and detained under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at Mountjoy Garda Station. He has been charged in connection with the collision and is scheduled to appear before court one at the Criminal Courts of Justice at 10.30am tomorrow.

Gardaí have appealed for witnesses to the collision, asking anyone with information to contact Mountjoy Garda Station 01 666 8600 or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.
