Man dies after being hit by a car shortly after exiting a taxi in Portadown

The PSNI have appealed to anyone who may have witnessed the accident on the Gilford Road.

POLICE IN NORTHERN Ireland confirmed that a man in his 40s died after he was struck by a car on the Gilford Road in Portadown during the early hours of this morning.

The man had exited a taxi a short time before he was involved in a collision with a Volkswagen Passat car shortly before 2am.

The Gilford Road remains closed between the Breagh Road and the Moyallen Road roundabout.

Police are appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision or anyone who was travelling on the Gilford Road around the time of the collision to contact them at the Collision Investigation Unit in Steeple Police Station or local police at Mahon Road Police Station on the new non-emergency number 101.
