Body of a man found on strand in Ballybunion after two-day search

The discovery was made by the Shannon-based Irish Coast Guard helicopter off the Long Strand in Ballybunion.

THE BODY OF man has been discovered in shallow water near Ballybunion after a two-day search for a man missing since Saturday.

The discovery was made by the Shannon-based Irish Coast Guard helicopter off the Long Strand in Ballybunion just before midday today.

Searching had resumed at 9am this morning after an operation was launched yesterday to find a man who was last seen in Ballybunion on Saturday.

The body was brought to a rescue centre run by members of the Ballybunion Sea and Cliff Rescue Service with the  Ballybunion Coast Guard unit, Ballyheighue Inshore Rescue and Glenderry Coast Guard Unit also involved. Members of the public also helped with the search

Ballybunion rescuers said that their thoughts and prayers are with the deceased’s family.
