Man killed after car strikes Waterford bridge

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses.

GARDAÍ ARE APPEALING for witnesses to a fatal single vehicle crash in Co Waterford early this morning.

A man in his 20s was fatally injured when his car struck the bridge on Cheekpoint Road at around 1.10am. He was the only occupant of the vehicle.

He was pronounced dead at the scene and his remains have been removed to Waterford Regional Hospital.

The road is currently closed to facilitate an examination of the crash.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the crash to contact Waterford Garda Station on 051 305300, the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111, or any garda station.
