Man killed in road accident in County Down

The 44-year-old man has died following a one vehicle road traffic this morning.

THE POLICE IN Northern Ireland have confirmed that a 44-year-old man has died following a one vehicle road traffic incident shortly before 6.20am this morning.

The road accident involved a black Vauxhall Astra on the Ballygowan Road, Saintfield area this morning and the Ballygowan Road remains closed at the junction of the Belfast Road and the Carsontown Road area.

Motorists are advised to seek alternative main routes for their journey.

Police would appeal to anyone who witnessed the incident or anyone who was travelling on the Ballygowan Road around the time of the incident to contact the Collision Investigation Unit at Steeple Police Station or Police at Downpatrick Police Station by calling 0845 600 8000.
