Man killed in hit-and-run in Swords overnight

The man was struck by a car on North Street in Swords at 3.10am.

GARDAÍ ARE APPEALING for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision in Swords, County Dublin last night.

At approximately 3.10am, a male pedestrian, aged in his late 40s, was seriously injured when he was struck by a car on North Street in Swords.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The vehicle involved in the incident failed to remain at the scene. The deceased was removed to Connolly Hospital for a post mortem examination.

Garda Forensic Collision Investigators are currently examining the scene and local traffic diversions are in place.

Investigating gardaí are appealing for information and in particular anyone who was in the in the vicinity of North Street, Swords between 3am-3.15am this morning to contact them.
