Man released over murder of pensioner in Kimmage

Edward Boyan was found stabbed in the chest, by firefighters who were called to a blaze at his retirement flat.

A MAN HAS been released after questioning over the stabbing death of a pensioner in Kimmage.

The 29-year-old was freed without charge at 11.10am yesterday, and a file has been sent to the DPP.

A 74-year-old man, named as Edward Boyan, was found dead by firefighters who were called to a blaze at the retirement flat in south Dublin on Saturday. Gardaí confirmed he had been stabbed in the chest, and it’s believed the fire was started maliciously.

The 29-year-old man was arrested in Dublin city centre in the early hours of Sunday morning.
