Man stabbed in head and body in early morning attack in Belfast

A man and a woman, both in their 20s, have been arrested in connection with the stabbing.

A 23-YEAR-OLD MAN was stabbed a number of times in his head and other parts of his body in an attack in Belfast in the early hours of this morning.

Police were carrying out a routine patrol of streets off the Falls Road when they found the injured man at around 3.30am. The man was brought to hospital where his condition is described as stable.

A 23-year-old man was arrested shortly afterwards on suspicion of grevious bodily harm with intent and possession of an offensive weapon. A woman aged 26 was also arrested on suspicious of assault causing grevious bodily harm.

The PSNI said both are being held in custody and are helping police with their inquiries.
