Man's body pulled from the sea at the Cliffs of Moher

As part of an investigation into the death, gardaí also discovered a woman in her 50s who had been assaulted.

THE BODY OF a man has been pulled from the sea at the Cliffs of Moher.

Gardaí say that Doolin Coastguard retrieved the body of the man in his 40s at around 4pm yesterday afternoon.

The body was removed to Mid-Western Regional Hospital in Limerick and a post-mortem examination is being carried out.

Gardaí say that as part of their attempts to establish the identity of the man, they searched a house at Anvil Court in Roscommon town at 1am this morning where a woman in her 50s was found to have been asssaulted.

The woman was taken to Portiuncula Hospital in Ballinasloe for treatment.

Gardaí say they are investigating both matters.
