Body of missing Mark Casey (19) found in Limerick

A large scale search – co-ordinated by gardaí and family members – had been taking place in the city since the Offaly teenager went missing eight days ago.

GARDAÍ IN LIMERICK searching for Offaly teenager Mark Casey have confirmed they’ve found the 19-year-old’s body. According to a statement from the force, the student’s body was located in the Rhebogue area this morning at around 11.30am.

A large scale search, co-ordinated by gardaí and family members, had been taking place in the city since the teenager went missing eight days ago.

The 19-year-old NUI Galway student, who is from Killeigh, Tullamore, Co Offaly, had last been seen in the early hours of last Friday morning, 7 March. He had travelled to the city for a friend’s birthday.

Speaking to TheJournal.ie yesterday, Mark’s cousin Damien Casey said that “hordes of volunteers” had been travelling from Offaly and Galway to take part in the search each day — before heading home again each evening.
