This Fine Gael TD really misses the famous Dáil plinth

There’s a special bond between Mary Mitchell O’Connor and the famous Leinster House steps….

AS YOU MAY know the famous Dáil plinth has its own Twitter account which has been fairly active in recent months.

But it’s all gone a bit quiet lately with TDs and Senators gone on their holidays and the Oireachtas complex a pretty quiet place for the next few weeks.

So bored is @DailPlinth that they burst into spontaneous song on Twitter earlier today which prompted one of its many admirers to get in touch:

Of course this isn’t just any admirer, this is Fine Gael TD for Dún Laoghaire Mary Mitchell O’Connor who inadvertently drove over the Plinth on her first day in Leinster House three years ago.

So it’s no wonder the Plinth holds such strong affections for MMOC, tweeting her this special tune:

Thankfully the feeling is mutual as Mitchell O’Connor tweeted back:

Better news  still for the famous Plinth is that MMOC has been in touch to tell us that while she’s been away in Galway for the last few days she’s back in the capital today:

The Plinth will be only delighted.
