Three arrested after teenager seriously injured in stabbing incident

A 17-YEAR-OLD boy has been hospitalised after he was stabbed in Wesport, Co Mayo last night.

The teenager was seriously injured when he was stabbed a number of times during an incident at Railway Walk in Wesport.

He was taken to Mayo General Hospital where his condition is described as stable.

Three men in their late teens were later arrested and taken to Westport Garda station where they are being detained under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.

A technical examination of the scene is under way and gardaí say that their inquiries are ongoing.

They are appealing for witnesses to the incident, particularly anyone who was in the vicinity of Railway Walk between 10.30pm and 11pm last night, to contact them.

    The law is not strict enough on knife crime,and these young thugs should be taught a lesson.

  • The poor lad. These knackers need to have the book thrown at them and made a fierce example of in the courts.

    Knife crime is the most cowardly, despicable crime and needs to be shut down immediately by a severe penalty, the maximum the law will permit.

    Seriously knife crime is a complete black hole if allowed to take hold in our towns and cities, it’s got to be shut down with the full strength of our law and massive penalties put in place for being caught carrying concealed knives.

  • This is not exclusive to mayo and can happen in any town in ireland.Those involved and i mean all of them should be charged with attempted murder but there is every chance that if they end up in court they’ll be blaming the drink or have some bs sob story about how they’re usually grand lads and it’s completely out of character

  • westports gone awful bad just recently a couple were mugged and hit with beer bottles, a guy was beatin up on the street and a guy tried to burn down someones house
