CONOR McGREGOR IS back in action this weekend so you might be wondering how exactly you can watch live as the Irish mixed martial arts star bids to become the first fighter in history to hold two UFC belts at the same time.

With the UFC heading to Madison Square Garden to stage an event in New York City for the first time, McGregor — the reigning featherweight champion — will take on defending lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez in the main event at UFC 205.

The only place to [legitimately] see the fight live in Ireland is BT Sport 2, which is available on the eir Sport [formerly Setanta Sports] package. However, the problem there is for those who are on the Virgin Media platform, which no longer carries eir Sport.

To add to the complications, the UFC took the decision earlier this year to remove the option for fans in Ireland to purchase each event individually on a pay-per-view basis from their online platforms, such as UFC Fight Pass, UFC.com and YouTube.

If you do have access to the fight, Conor McGregor’s meeting with Eddie Alvarez will be the last of five bouts on the main card, which kicks off at 3am. However, it’s likely to be approximately 5am by the time McGregor and Alvarez finally get down to business.

The UFC 205 action kicks off at midnight tomorrow night with the preliminary card. The early prelims will be on UFC Fight Pass, the UFC’s online broadcast platform, and the later prelims can be viewed via both Fight Pass and BT Sport 2 from 1am.

* The UFC 205 main card will now feature five bouts instead of six as a result of the cancellation of the meeting of Donald Cerrone and Kelvin Gastelum due to the latter’s failure to make weight.
