Two men charged over Merrion Square assault

Two people were hospitalised for head injuries after the attack.

TWO MEN HAVE been charged in connection with an assault at Dublin’s Merrion Square which saw two people hospitalised for head injuries.

The victims, both men, were treated in St Vincent’s Hospital for their injuries after the attack at around 7.20pm on Tuesday night. A woman who was with them was uninjured.

Gardaí arrested a 21-year-old man close to the scene shortly after the assault. A 24-year-old man was arrested the following day. Both men are being held at Kevin Street Garda station. A third attacker is still at large.

Gardaí at Pearse Street are investigating the case and have asked anyone with any information about the incident to contact Pearse Street station at 01 – 666 9000, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda station.
