Diver still not found after second night missing

THE SEARCH CONTINUES for German Reinhardt Teschke, who remains missing off the coast near Baltimore in County Cork

The Naval Service Vessel LÉ Ciara remained on scene throughout the day today, assisting in coordinating the search.

The LÉ Ciara has now been stood down from search operations for the night, with the Naval Service Specialist Dive Team due to arrive in the area tomorrow morning.

The LÉ Ciara is set to recommence search operations at first light tomorrow morning.

  • Sad news , I read that 3 were diving 90 metres which I understand is very deep compared to regular recreational diving , but only 2 returned so sadly sounds like its a recovery operation now ,, hope the specialists find him.

  • Your right Dave. Recreational Diving only permits you to go to 30m. They were obviously trained technical divers using gas mixes to go to those type of depths. Huge risks involved. Thoughts with his family and fellow divers.

    • Yep Dave. Recreational dives are usually to a max of 45m. After that you are talking mixed gas, Pyle stops and long decompression stops. To do such a dive a reduced oxygen and reduced nitrogen blend would have been required. If they were doing this type of dive one would assume they were well trained to do so.
