ONE OF THE two monkeys that escaped from Belfast Zoo yesterday has been caught – but the other one is still on the loose tonight.

The zoo confirmed the escape yesterday afternoon.

And in a statement afterwards, zoo authorities said the two animals were being tracked by staff.

“The two primates in question have been sighted onsite or in close proximity to the zoo.

“Belfast Zoo staff and the zoo vet are located in these areas and are tracking the movements of the animals.”

One of the two – Rose – was found at the bottom of Cave Hill, where they were spotted yesterday, BBC Northern Ireland reported.

The other monkey – Zoid – was spotted near Ben Madigan Park on the Antrim Road in north Belfast, according to the broadcaster.
