Tragic

Mother who feared for her job killed her two kids then herself

An inquest in the UK has heard about the tragic case of Claudia Oakes-Green and her family.

A MOTHER KILLED her two children before taking her own life because she feared she may lose her job, an inquest in the UK has heard.

BBC News reports that Claudia Oakes-Green, 44, stabbed her two children, 13 year-old Thomas and his nine-year-old sister Eleanor before taking her own life.

An inquest at Loughborough Coroner’s Court near Leicester heard that their bodies were found at their home on 23 February of this year after neighbours raised the alarm.

The Telegraph reports how the inquest had heard that Oakes-Green, who worked as a lecturer at Wyggeston and Queen Elizabeth I College in Leicester, had become depressed and had used the family laptop to research “suicide, depression, and self-harm”.

She was said to be worried about her job and concerned for her asthmatic son’s health. Her husband, Iain Oakes-Green did not give evidence and said in a statement that he wished to be left alone to grieve for his loss.

The coroner recorded a verdict of unlawful killings in the case of the two children and suicide in the case of Claudia Oakes-Green.
