A MURDER INVESTIGATION has been launched in Bradford in the UK after an 18-month-old baby fell from a sixth floor window and died from its injuries.
The incident happened at about 5.10pm yesterday at Newcastle House in Barkerend in the Yorkshire city.
Police were called to the scene where the baby boy had suffered life-threatening injuries. Although emergency services attended the scene they were unable to prevent the child from succumbing to his injuries.
“It is no exaggeration to say those who witnessed this incident will have been deeply traumatised by what they saw,” said Detective Superintendent Nick Wallen of West Yorkshire Police.
A full crime scene was established at the site, while inquiries continue.
A 23-year-old woman was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder.
“She is currently receiving medical assessment in custody,” Wallen said.
This is clearly an extremely traumatic incident and specially trained officers are working to support the child’s family members and those who witnessed what took place.
“Although we are not looking for anyone else in connection with this incident I would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed what took place or have information who has not yet come forward,” he added.
