THESE DRAMATIC AND beautiful patterns were created by a murmuration of starlings in the UK on Monday evening.

The sight enthralled residents of the small village of Rigg, near Gretna, in the Scottish Borders. However, it also created some small inconveniences.

The weight of the resting birds on power lines caused some outages in the area.

The starling is actually on an endangered species list because of its decline in other parts of the world.
