  • Reading comments on a previous post about the picture used. I always commend this site for not going overboard with pictures of the scene.

My brother was the first of the year last year. The photographers where savages. Every paper the following morning had pictures grabbed from his facebook account, pictures of the scene, It got so bad we had to tell businesses in the town not to give directions to the wake house.
The morning of the funeral they lined the road to the church taking photos.
I.couldn’t even say things I wanted to say during the oration at the end.of the mass incase the press present took it up wrong.
Fair play once again to how the journal handles things like this.

    • We had a family member killed in rather horrific crash 20 years ago. The images of the vehicle were everywhere including on our local newspaper. You can imagine the distress this caused my mum, gran, aunts, uncles, ( i was only young so perhaps was not fully aware of how graphic they were ) but having lost other family members through RTAs I always feel the media should have strict rules in place re photography crash sites. I feel for every family, or friend of a RTA victim because to see a mangled car can be extremely distressing.
Sadly i know of the family effected by this tragedy, they are from the same town where I grew up. This is not the first tragedy to come to their door so I am sure, like you, they could do without the excessive media intrusion.

I hope your family are doing well. You will never forget but it will get easier x
