Man in his 40s dies after he is knocked down in Meath

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses.

A MAN HAS died after he was knocked down and killed while crossing a road in Meath.

The man, who gardaí said was in his 40s, was out walking near Ballymagarvey Farm in Balrath, at around 6.50am when he was hit by a car.

His body has been removed to Navan Mortuary where a post-mortem will take place.

A garda spokesman said: “The road is currently closed and local diversions are in place and forensic collision investigators have been notified.

“Gardaí are appealing to any witnesses who can assist them to contact Navan Garda Station on 046 – 9036100, the Garda Confidential Line 1 800 666 111 or any garda station.”
