Teenagers arrested after overnight raid at Meath shopping centre

Gardaí went to the scene after receiving a call, and observed a car “acting suspiciously”.

TWO 17-YEAR-OLDS and a man aged 22 have been arrested in connection with a burglary at a shop in Navan, Co Meath overnight.

It happened at the Blackcastle Shopping Centre, to the north of the town, at about 1am.

Gardaí went to the scene after receiving a call, and observed a car “acting suspiciously being driven by one male,” a statement from the force this morning said.

Two other males then jumped into the car and left the scene, in the direction of Slane.

According to gardaí:

“The car was later stopped on the Slane Road by other units from Navan Garda Station.

Three males (17,17 & 22 years) were arrested and are being detained at Navan Garda station under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 as amended.

The shop’s shutter and front window were damaged during the robbery.

A small sum of cash and clothing was taken. There were no staff inside at the time.
