Nissan Micra

Nissan's all-new Micra looks VERY different from its predecessors

Pricing and specification have now been announced.

THE ALL-NEW Nissan Micra looks radically different from previous models.

When it goes on sale in April, the updated supermini will be priced from €16,650. Beneath its new exterior comes a choice of three engines: two petrol and one diesel. In all, there will be four specification grades: XE, SV, SV Premium and SVE.

Petrol engines start with a 73hp 1.0-litre naturally aspirated unit. There will also be a punchy 0.9-litre turbocharged unit that produces 90hp and can return a claimed 4.4 litres/100km (64mpg). On the diesel side, a 1.5-litre with 90hp claims to offer 3.2 litres/100km (88.3mpg) on a combined cycle.

The entry-level XE model comes equipped with 15-inch steel wheels, LED daytime running lights, Hill Start Assist, trip computer with gear indicator and manual air conditioning.

An additional €800 moves you up to the SV spec, which adds 16-inch alloy wheels, a seven-inch infotainment screen, and cruise control.

If you fancy an interior that is a bit more upmarket, the SV premium grade adds a leather steering wheel, LED ambient lighting, automatic air conditioning and Nissan Connect. .

Topping off the new Micra range is the SVE model, which will be priced from €20,650 with the 0.9-litre petrol engine. With the SVE you get larger 17-inch alloy wheels, Nissan’s Intelligent Key with engine start button, rear camera and parking sensors, and an upgraded BOSE audio system.

The Nissan Micra has been a familiar sight on our roads since 1983 and over 3.5million Micras have been sold in Europe alone. This funky new model is set to take on the Ford Fiesta, Volkswagen Polo and Citroen C3.
