Online reports suggested the coach had turned over, but it had experienced a tyre blow-out that forced it off the road.

A COACH EXPERIENCED a tyre blow-out on a Newry road at 5am this morning, causing damage to a crash barrier.

There had been some reports online that the coach had turned over, but the PSNI confirmed to TheJournal.ie that this had not taken place.

Police have closed the inside lane northbound of the A1 motorway in Newry close to the Camlough Road after the coach experienced the tyre blow out.

Debris was spread on the road following the incident, and a crash barrier was damaged by the debris. The coach has been moved to the hard shoulder and the two passengers who were on board did not report any injuries.

The incident occurred shortly after 5am, the PSNI said.
