Nissan Qashqai

Ireland's favourite the Nissan Qashqai is getting a major update

It goes on sale in July.

EUROPE’S BESTSELLING crossover is getting a major makeover including a new exterior design, improved interior quality and new tech.

On the outside the new Nissan Qashqai gets a revised front end to include the latest Nissan ‘V-motion’ grille, also seen on the new Micra. The lights are adaptive to improve night time driving and there is also the new version of Nissan’s signature ‘boomerang’ Daytime Running Lights.

This ‘boomerang’ design continues around the back, extends across the rear lights and includes a 3D effect.

There are also two new hues added to the colour palette – Vivid Blue and Chestnut Brown – and new 17, 18 and 19-inch alloy wheels are available.

The interior gets an improved layout and higher quality materials alongside a new flat-bottom multi function steering wheel with chrome inserts. The NissanConnect infotainment system with DAB digital radio and sat nav gets a new user interface, which will hopefully make it a bit more user friendly. Music fans can opt for a BOSE seven-speaker premium sound system.

There will also be a brand new range-topping Tekna+ trim which will include new seats finished in soft nappa leather, with 3D quilting on the centre panels.

The new Qashqai will be available with ProPILOT autonomous drive capability which will take partial control of the steering, acceleration and braking in a single lane on highways during heavy traffic congestion or high-speed cruising.

Modifications have also been made to the suspension, damping and steering systems, which Nissan says gives an “even more refined on-the-road experience”.

The engine line up remains unchanged with the same 1.2 and 1.6-litre turbo petrol engines and 1.5 and 1.6-litre diesels, with Co2 emissions starting from 99g/km.

The new Nissan Qashqai goes on sale across Europe in July 2017.
