US PRESIDENT BARACK Obama has been re-elected for another four years in the White House following a closely-fought election which came to a conclusion overnight.

Shortly after taking a call from Republican challenger Mitt Romney – in which the former governor conceded the election – Obama appeared on stage in Chicago to accept the presidency for the next four years.
