Attempted shooting at Offaly sports gym

A man attempted to fire two shots at another man in the gym but his gun failed to discharge.

GARDAÍ IN TULLAMORE, Offaly are investigating a shooting incident at a business park near the Clara Road last night.

At approximately 9.30pm a male in army fatigues and a balaclava entered a boxing gym and attempted to fire two shots at another man.

The gun failed to discharge and the man made his escape in a car which was later found burned out about three miles away near Kilbride Cemetery.

The man in the gym who was shot at sustained no injuries.

Gardaí said the matter is now under investigation and appealed for anyone with information to contact Tullamore Garda Station on 057 9327600.
