It’s your right to request one.
What’s a completion certificate?
It’s mandatory by law for a Registered Electrical Contractor (REC) to issue a Completion Certificate for all electrical works (excluding minor works).
In the case of minor electrical works, a Completion Cert must still be issued if requested by you, the customer.
Why do I need one?
It is through this certification system that Safe Electric can monitor and validate that the electrical works completed meet the required safety standards. Ask for a Completion Certificate for all electrical works completed in your home immediately after they’re finished.
The REC will issue you the original white copy of the completion certificate. A copy of the certificate will also be issued to Safe Electric.
What if the contractor refuses?
If you have not been issued a Completion Certificate and the REC is refusing to do so, please submit your complaint by completing a complaint form.
