WHAT’S GOING ON in Leinster House?

Every day the Dáil and Seanad are sitting, TheJournal.ie brings you the most comprehensive guide to what our lawmakers are getting up to in the Houses of the Oireachtas.

So, here is what we can expect to be happening in the Dáil, Seanad and Committee rooms today…

3 things we’ll be keeping an eye on

  • Committees: Public Accounts — Former CEO of the Dublin Docklands Authority Paul Maloney has been called before the committee. He has been described as a “ key witness” in the Committee’s investigation into the Irish Glass Bottle Site project. Watch in Room 1 after 10am.
  • Dáil: Leaders’ Questions — It will in doubt be filled with questions over yesterday’s CRC revelations. That’s at 12pm.
  • Committees: Health — This sub-committee will meet with representatives from the HSE in Room 2 at 9.30am to discuss an extra €199 million in funding for the Executive.

Everything else that’s happening in the Dáil

  • Minister Simon Coveney is up first at 9.30am to answer questions on his portfolio.
  • The Public Service Management Bill and mammoth Companies Bill enter their final stages, and  discussion of the Assisted Decision Making Bill continues from yesterday. That all starts at 10.45am.
  • After that, it’s Order of Business at 12.21pm.
  • Has something been bothering our TDs? They can raise it in Topical Issues can be raised at 4.42pm.

Everything else that’s happening in the Seanad

  • Order of Business kicks off at 10.30am.
  • Similar to yesterday, Minister Michael Noonan will arrive in at 11.45am for continued discussion of the Finance Bill and Minister James Reilly at 6pm to talk medical card eligibility rules.
  • Making a splash at 4pm will be Minister Fergus O’Dowd, who will be popping in to discuss legislation that transfers responsibility for water services from city and county councils to Irish Water.

Everything else that’s happening in the Committees

  • Minister Joan Burton will be meeting with the Social Protection sub-committee to discuss changes to defined benefit pension legislation. That’s in Room 3 at 10am.
  • The Joint Committee on the Implementation of the Good Friday Agreement are in Room 4, and will be meeting with people affected by violence at 10.30am, and discussing the Civic Forum in Northern Ireland at 11.30am.
  • Discussion of “a plan to capture the full value of our genealogical heritage” continues in Room 4 at 2.15pm with the Environment, Culture and Gaeltacht Committee. In attendance will be officials from the Department of Heritage, the National Archives, the National Library, and family history research organisations.
