Hoping to watch this afternoon's Freedom of Information debate? Well, the Oireachtas website has crashed...

Staff are working to fix the problem and hope to have it corrected “as soon as possible”.

IT’S A BUSY day in Oireachtas: Enda Kenny will be taking TDs’ questions at 3.15pm, a Fianna Fáil bill on access to credit will be discussed and there’s the issue of the controversial Freedom of Information Bill, which reaches committee stage this afternoon.

However, how much of what the average citizen will be able to watch and hear remains to be seen; the Oireachtas website is currently suffering from a range of “technical issues”.

On some browsers, this means its not possible to view the site at all, while on others users are reporting problems visiting certain sections.

An Oireachtas spokesperson said the issue was due to a full server, and that staff were currently working through the problem.

“It’s something we’re hoping to have fixed as soon as possible,” the spokesperson said.

“Certain sections are coming back to life as they work through the problem.”

He said the Oireachtas Communications Department had been fielding a “large number” of calls on the issue, mostly from people asking about today’s schedule for the Dáil, Seanad and committees.
