Two men dead after car collision near Omagh

The deaths bring to 66 the number of people killed on the North’s roads this year.

TWO MEN HAVE died following a car crash outside Omagh this morning.

The crash occurred on the Doogary Road in Omagh around 8am.

The men are from the Fintona and Drumquin areas.

The deaths bring to 66 the number of people killed on the North’s roads this year and to five the number of people killed on the A5 road since August.

Assistant Chief Constable Alan Todd said: “I would firstly like to extend my condolences to the families of the two young men who died following a two vehicle road traffic collision today on the Doogary Road, Omagh.

“I would appeal to anyone who was travelling on the Doogary Road this morning at approximately 8.00am and who may have witnessed this incident to contact Police at Omagh on the non-emergency number 101.

“With increased traffic levels expected during the Christmas holidays I am urging drivers, motorcyclists, cyclists and pedestrians to take extra care on the roads.

“All I ask is that drivers slow down, do not drive after drinking or taking drugs, wear a seatbelt, drive with greater care and attention and don’t use mobile phones while driving.”
