Gardaí say that a lone raider entered a betting shop in Briarhill Shopping Centre at approximately 4.30pm  armed with a sawn-off shotgun. He demanded cash and made off with an undisclosed amount of money.

A 21-year-old man was later arrested and is currently being detained at Mill Street Garda Station under Section 30 Offences against the State Act 1939.

Investigators found the firearm and cash near to the scene of the crime, and a green BMW believed to be associated with the robbery was also located at Ballybrit Heights.
