One person killed in Roscommon crash

One woman was killed in crash involving a car and an articulated truck this afternoon.

GARDAÍ ARE INVESTIGATING  a fatal road traffic collision in Co Roscommon today, in which one person was killed.

An articulated truck and a car were involved in a crash on the Strokestown to Elphin Road in Lugboy at around 1pm.

The car’s occupants, an 86-year-old man and his sister, aged 83, were taken to Roscommon General Hospital. The woman died this evening from her injuries.

The man is seriously injured and has been transferred to University College Hospital Galway.

The road has re-opened to traffic following a technical examination of the scene.
