Open thread: What's the funniest thing that you and your best friend ever did together?

Tell us your stories – all in the name of friendship, of course.

THE OLD SAYING goes that a good friend will bail you out of jail, but a best friend will be sitting beside you in the clink.

There’s nothing at all in the world like the joy of having a best friend. They see you at your best, worst and everything in between. They not only know your stories, but were by your side for most of the more outrageous ones.

In the spirit of friendship, we want to hear your stories of the funniest adventures you ever got into alongside your main partner in crime.

To get the ball rolling, we asked the gang here in TheJournal.ie Towers to tell us the funniest scrape they ever wriggled out of alongside their best pal. One brave soul told this story of, ahem, two extremely close friends:

Me and my best friend moved to New York, went to Victoria Secrets on one of our first days and got bullied into buying this incredibly expensive push-up bra that we couldn’t afford. We DEF couldn’t afford two of them so we shared that bra for three months.
Bless us.

And we all have that tale of misguided pilgrimage from our teenage years, right?

Once we got a bus to Newgrange when we were 14 cos we thought they were filming an episode of the X Files there.
(They weren’t)

Of course, not forgetting the truly bizarre escapades that you could only get into with that one old friend:

Years ago, my best friend and I applied and actually got onto an Irish game show. We made a holy show of ourselves, didn’t win anything and got all our answers wrong. It hasn’t stopped being a topic for slagging among all our mates despite many years going by. I guess I can expect that one in the best man’s speech…

Ted 2 hits cinemas this Wednesday the 8th of July – and with Mark Wahlberg and Seth Macfarlane both back as the incorrigible best friends, it promises to deliver on the brilliant comedy of the first instalment.
