Achill-henge structure gets arty makeover and it's all to help young men

Thirty 12ft art pieces are being put on the side of each pillar on the structure.

THIRTY 12FT DRAWINGS of a young man are being put on the side of each pillar on the Achill-henge structure.

“Why?” you ask. Well, the aim of the project ‘Our Nation’s Sons’ is to use portraits drawings as a tool to provoke and question current representations of young men in today’s society.

Other large-scale portrait drawings of young men in locations around the country will also be popping over the next year.

“As a nation we have pushed a significant number of our young men to the very edges of society and created within them feelings of neglect and apathy. It is now time to empower these young lads and give them a sense of belonging,” said the Joe Caslin of the project.
