O'Bama Power

You have to hand it to them: Paddy Power are good at this

“Free €100 bet in this shop if your name is Obama – birth certificate required as proof of identity.”

WHEN SHE FIRST came with her husband two years ago, their stores around the country were given a temporary rebranding – but Paddy Power have pushed the boat out for Michelle Obama’s flying visit to Dalkey today.

The local betting shop has revived the name for the day, and rolled out a series of special offers in case the First Lady fancies a punt before lunch with Bono.

It’s offering a free €100 bet for anyone with the surname Obama – though demanding that a birth certificate (probably long-form) be presented as proof of identity.

It’s also offering a range of odds on what the First Lady might do when her husband has left office – with writing a book or hosting a talk show among the short-odds favourites.

If you’re nearby, you can splash out on Michelle making a fitness DVD at 33/1, or making a run for President herself at 150/1.

We don’t recommend the 500/1 odds for Mrs Obama opening her fast food outlet.
