  • Other reports have stated that Mr. O’Leary was in training for the Ring of Kerry cycle this weekend. I hope the organisers mark his death in some way.

    RIP

  • RIP to this poor man and condolences to his family. I am slow to try and make a side point off such a sad story however drivers need to take away more care with cyclists on the road. I was out cycling last week and a guy decided to cut outside of me so tight that he clipped my elbow with his wing mirror as he was going round a bend at speed. So George hook can rant all he wants about cyclists but as a person who both drives and cycles it’s drivers of cars are the problem and not cyclists. Again my sincere condolences to this mans family!

  • Such cowards for driving away from an accident. On a side issue there is a shocking lack of respect from all road users in this country. It should be a compulsory class thought in all schools. On how to behave as a pedestrian , cyclist and driver.

  • Poor man and you would think you were safe on a country road. How could another human being leave some one lying on the side of the road. I would like to have their mind.

  • I live just off scrahanfadda and there are and always have been plenty dangerous drivers on this road. Whether locals or sometimes business people using it as a cut through to castleisland or killarney. Recently a guy literrally tailgated me … I was doing 55/60 not an unreasonable speed, yet because the limit is 100 he seemed to think it was a reason to blow his horn for about 3 minutes while he tried to get me off the road-there was nowhere to pull in, and I had my 2 year old in the car. The idiot woke her up. Yet how am I supposed to report this when we were the only 2 people on the road and clearly he was in a rush somewhere (in a tie, a meeting I guess.)

crazy that even last night there were still cars hurtling at the speed of sound on the diversion roads around scrahan fadda- some of them on mobiles….even this horrible tragic death hasn’t stopped some drivers, and they cross the spectrum of ages, both male and female. Rip Paudie and special prayers to his wife and 4 girls, by god they need it.
Obviously whoever did this was either over the limit, had some kind of issues to say they could not even stop ? It beggars belief and it sickening. But I am so sorry to say that I am surprised there hasnt Ben a major accident here before now.
