Pedestrian killed in Galway

The man in his 60s was struck by a car at Ballinahown last night.

GARDAÍ IN CARRAROE are investigating a fatal road traffic collision in which a pedestrian died yesterday evening.

The incident occurred at Ballinahown, Inverin at approximately 6.30pm on Halloween night.

Gardaí said a male pedestrian in his 60’s was fatally injured when he was struck by a car. He was taken to University College Hospital Galway where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the car was uninjured.

Gardaí said this stretch of road is currently closed to facilitate an examination this morning by garda forensic collision investigators, and local diversions are in place.

Gardaí wish to appeal for witnesses to contact Salthill Garda Station on 091 514720, the Garda Confidential Telephone Line on 1800 666 111 or any garda station.
