so what happens during a half moon. is there only half a moon, therefore less gravity, and during a full moon there is more moon. or could a half moon just be that half the moon is lit up due to the earth shadow alignment . I think you missed the boat there. LOL

Nice tie in with the tides :-) but as I was trying to point out there is no extra gravity with a full moon, not unless the full moon happens to fall on a super moon.(about every 441 days – elliptical orbit of the moon around the earth) The only other way there would be more gravity is when the moon aligns itself with the sun during a new moon. Now you’ve missed the boat . LOL. and i think its a bit late for me. haha..

I think the moon has affected Simon.

It’s all that extra gravity floating around jim….we should be vigilant you know!

Simon the moon exerts a gravitational pull on earth, especially affecting water as with tides etc.. during a full moon the pull is strongest, so our 70% or so water make-up is affected in this way by tiny extra draw which makes us theoretically a tiny bit “taller” lol away mate

Sorry Jamie but how can a shadow cast on the surface of the moon effect its gravity. While its a full moon for us in Ireland, in parts of Europe it will not be. Are you now saying the the gravity of the moon can be selective depending on where you view it. The moon phases are just shadows and have nothing to do with the its gravity. As said before the orbital path of the moon effects the gravity as does its alignment to the sun. The strongest effect of gravity would be felt at a new moon and not a full moon.
