POLICE IN NORTHERN Ireland are appealing for information following two incidents in the Waterside area of Derry during the early hours of this morning.
Shortly after 1.35am it was reported that what is believed to have been a pipe bomb type device had exploded outside a house in the Lapwing Way area.
Attack
Four adults and one child who were in the house at the time but no one was injured. No damage was caused to the property in the attack.
At approximately the same time, another pipe bomb type device also exploded outside a house in the Lincoln Court area.
Damage was caused to the front door of the property. Four adults who were in the house at the time of the attack bu again, no one was injured.
Hate crimes
Police are linking these incidents and are treating them as hate crimes.
Remains of the devices have been taken away for forensic examination.
Police would appeal to anyone with any information about the incidents or anyone who saw anything out of the ordinary in the area of Lapwing Way or Lincoln Court late last night or early this morning to contact CID at Strand Road Police Station on 0845 600 8000.
