TODAY MARKS THE Feast of the Epiphany in the Christian calendar – known in Ireland as Nollaig na mBan.
In the Christian tradition, it is the day when the three wise men are said to have arrived at the stable in Bethlehem to visit the baby Jesus.
In Ireland, the day has been traditionally associated with celebrating the contribution of Irish women to society.
In the past it was known as a day of rest for many women after the Christmas rush and many would gather in pubs or homes while men stayed at home.
These days, domestic duties are typically more evenly shared in the household, but the day is still regarded by many as a treasured Irish tradition.
So this morning we’re asking, Will you be celebrating Nollaig na mBan?
