Poll: Do you struggle to pay your energy bills?

The Society of St Vincent de Paul say more people are approaching them because they can’t pay their energy bills. Are you one of the people in difficulty?

THERE HAS BEEN an increase in the number of people seeking help from the Society of St Vincent de Paul (SVP), with the charity stating the the high cost of energy bills has become a real burden for some.

The charity has said that the value of the Winter Fuel Allowance for this year has effectively been wiped out with the increase in energy bills by over €500 in the last three years.

Brendan Hennessy of the SVP said gas prices rose by 22 per cent in 2011, 8.5 per cent in 2012 and 2 per cent in 2013.

In today’s poll, the question we want the answer to is: Do you struggle to pay your energy bills?

Poll Results:

No, I pay my bill on time. (1414)
Yes, I struggle to pay my energy bills (1083)
Sometimes I struggle to pay (966)
